Jeff’s Illinois RE Journal Senior Housing Conference Takeaways #5

All panelists and speakers at the Senior Housing Conference focused on the incredible demographic growth in the senior population.  A few statistics:  From January 1, 2011 to January 1, 2031, 10,000 people will turn 65 every day, totaling 73 million people.  By 2029, every baby boomer will be 65 years old.  The 65-and-older population will increase from 40 million in 2010 to 55 million in 2020.  The 85-and-older population is projected to increase from 6.1 million in 2010 to 7.3 million in 2020.
